Originally built as a mill for the town's wool trade, St Margarets Hall served as the town's cinema from 1920 to 1950 and has since then hosted events of all kinds within the town. Fully refurbished from the beginning of 2003, it now has the additional purpose of housing offices for the town's council in addition to its continuing role as a venue for local events. The hall is situated right in the centre of Bradford on Avon, within easy walking distance of the railway station and bus stops. Local amenities are comprehensive, including a library, a good range of shops and numerous pubs and cafes. The town also has an historic Sixteenth Century tithe barn situated in the country park and the historic wharf and locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal. |
