Opening times

Every single railway title that the shop stocks is now accessible for purchase via this website using our secure online ordering system. All the books in the shop are now viewable online in an intuitive and graphically pleasing way which we hope you will enjoy using. The Booksearch function now operates across this new larger database.

When you Browse the Bookshop you are presented with a graphical representation of actual bookshelves, arranged exactly as they are in the shop. Each shelf holds a different subject grouping, each of which is labelled, and books are generally organised on the shelves by subject. Exceptions to this rule are Oakwood Press and Wild Swan titles, which are grouped together but still organised by subject within those groupings. You can also view a complete lising of sections in the shop arranged by bookcase on the Shelf Index page, which is fully functional and will link through to individual books.

All books that are new to the shop now autonatically pass on to the What's New page, so you can now browse the latest titles without having to look on different shelves. Whilst new titles do not "automatically" acquire a detailed review, I hope to start writing and adding reviews to many more books than I have recently as I know from customers that my "indepenent" views and thoughts on the books I stock can be useful when considering a purchase(!)

Because the whole of the website is driven by the same database as used in the shop for controlling and managing stock, you can place your order secure in the knowledge that the books listed are actually in stock. The "last updated" date indicates a full re-loading of a current version of the complete stock in the shop up on to the web site. Additional subjects now available online include shipping and maritime, local history, buses, posters and design, trams, canals, industrial archaeology, walking and a small but effective "children's railway" section.

On Friday October the 7th last year Martin Curtis launched his new "Bristol Scroll" book at the shop and Peter Davey drove Mike Walker's Bristol KSW over for the day. At left you see Peter arriving in Larkhall - a magnificent sight!

In the shop there is more stock to browse than is available or visible on the website. Pictures at the bottom of this page give some idea, but stock includes a large range of modelling supplies (Woodland Scenics, Peco, Ratio, Wills, Parkside, Slaters etc), magazines, OS maps, Alan Godfrey old maps, postcards, greetings cards and second hand books.

Bob Barlow (he of early MRJ editorship) has bought the Narrow Gauge and Industrial Railway Modelling Review from Roy Link and has just produced the first issue under hs stewardship - number 89. I have now started stocking all available back issues of this superb publication and look forward to future developments with great interest.

The shop also contains an interesting and changing selection of secondhand books.
