Stock: All books listed are kept in stock and any title that should go out of stock is obtainable within the week in most cases.
Security: Online ordering is achieved by use of "Roman Cart" software, providing a secure payment facility using Paypal or your Credit or Debit card.
Ordering: To purchase books simply click the "select" button against each choice and the site will take you to an order summary page which shows the total price inclusive of UK postage.
If you wish to select more than one book, then click the "continue shopping" button from the order summary page and carry on browsing. At any point clicking "view selection" will enable you to review your order before proceeding.
From "view selection" clicking the "checkout" button will will enable you to complete your order. Input your details, changing your location and postage rate to an International rate if applicable. Your purchase will then be completed using our secure ordering facility. Alternatively, if you prefer to pay by cheque, simply print off an invoice to send with your order. Please make cheques payable to "The Titfield Thunderbolt".
Postage & Packing: Rates are calculated based upon Royal Mail First Class for UK delivery and Royal Mail Printed Papers Airmail rates for international orders. They are calculated according to the actual weight of each book plus an allowance for the weight of the packaging. I use Royal Mail. Heavier and European orders orders may sent out by DPD, a very reliable courier service.
The minimum UK P&P charge is £4.00, charges are then graded up to 2.5kg where the £9.00 maximum kicks in.
Real People: Despite this automation the whole endeavour is still run by human beings - still just as available as ever by telephone, e-mail or letter, so if you have any queries or questions then please get in touch.
More information: We pack extremely securely and have not had any books returned damaged since we started trading, which is now over 23 years ago.
We endeavour to stock books which are worth owning. In our view, the criterion for judgement of a book's being "worth owning" will be a combination of some or all of the following; quality of reproduction of photographs, print quality, originality of concept, quality of research undertaken by author, sources of information, obscurity of subject, quality of writing, humanity of author, artistic ability of designer, and yes but probably last on the list - price.
Payment Methods: Using the secure online ordering facility any of the following cards may be used to place an order; Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Maestro, Switch, Solo, and JCB. For those that prefer it Paypal is also a payment option.
Nochex: Nochex is a bit picky and requires that when you enter your telephone number you do not enter any spaces or special characters, so for example do not leave a space between code and number.
Please do not send cash in the post.
