M4 STARTING THE RAILCAR AT VOBLEY MILLS

Because most passenger trains need to reverse at Vobley Mills, which has no loop line, the PB&VMR invested in a railcar. Number 1, there never were a Number 2 or any others, was prone to overheating when running in reverse, and then cutting out. Ilia the Plumbury Bagotte pilot was often summoned to the rescue but on this occasion a passing traction engine has offered to help, much to the detriment of the wooden cattle grids. The Turp Bros. have been engaged to decorate the station, a task which will no doubt entail painting over the rot!
